DEPUTY REGISTER OF PROBATE
The Penobscot County Registry of Probate has an opening for a Deputy Register of Probate. The Deputy Register position requires a general knowledge of Probate Court rules, applicable laws, policies and procedures, as well as the Maine Rules of Civil Procedure. It is a quasi-judicial role with a great deal of responsibility, requiring good judgment and decision making capabilities. The Deputy Register oversees the daily activities of the Probate Office in the absence of the Register and performs the daily tasks assigned to the position. The Deputy Register works closely with the Judge of Probate. Duties include preparing the Judge's weekly schedule, assisting the Judge on Court days, drafting and preparing Court orders, proofreading Judges Orders and Decisions as well other duties as assigned by the Register of Probate. A Bachelor's Degree is required for this position, business or pre-law preferred, along with two to four years' experience in progressively legal work, Probate preferred. The applicant must be able to be bonded and to assume the oath of office.
