Faculty Family Physician
The Eastern Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program is growing and is seeking a faculty family physician or osteopathic family physician to join our ten full-time family physicians, one pediatrician, four behavioral health specialists, one pharmacist and one part-time obstetrician-gynecologist in training our nearly 30 residents. All faculty have a small clinical practice with over 70% of responsibility and time devoted to teaching, including supporting the Athletics Department of the University of Maine. Physician opportunities require an MD/DO or foreign equivalent, three-year family medicine or internal medicine residency, Maine physician licensure (or immediately eligible for the same), and board-certification in family medicine or internal medicine. Interest obstetrics or inpatient medicine preferred. Interest in teaching is required.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growing 9-9-9 program focusing on rural medicine. We are the sole program within our sponsoring institution, a tertiary care center with a supportive administration (the Chief Medical Officer is a former director of the program). Our program is accredited by the ACGME and AOA with Osteopathic Recognition expected in September 2017.
Located in Bangor, Maine, our program is perfect for those who love to spend our generous vacation time outdoors. The hospital overlooks the Penobscot River and the city of Bangor is home to numerous parks and playgrounds (as well as Stephen King’s house). Snow skiing in winter and the beautiful Atlantic coast and Acadia National Park are a short drive away. The most spectacular autumn leaves will be right outside your back door. Oh, and we have fresh Maine lobster all year round.
