The Deer Isle- Stonington Community School District (CSD), is a public K-12 district of 340 students located in the beautiful coastal towns of Deer Isle and Stonington Maine. We seek a Transitional Leader who will help lead Deer Isle-Stonington High School over the next two to three years. We are seeking a results-focused, problem-solving, experienced and determined leader to help us use our new strategic plan along with additional community planning time over the next year to set a firm course for Grades 9-12 Education as our community determines what high school education in or out of our district will look like in the years to come.
In order for our District to realize our new mission and vision we must determine if we can provide an academically challenging, integrative and community-involved program in grades K-12 and whether or not our students will be able to thrive in a new K-12 school model or in some other well-planned alternative. We seek a leader who combines administrative and instructional excellence along with knowledge of "Best Practices" in supervision, place-based learning, planning and consensus building. Our new Principal will work with our Head of School (K-12) and Elementary School Principal, forming a team to help both determine and transition into our next K-12 School Plan.
Determined Leaders who have high expectations for learning, have experience with grade 9-12 student and staff needs and learning, understand the importance of a Transitional Leader in supporting change and who understand the need for long-range planning are asked to apply!
The Deer Isle-Stonington CSD understands that the next two years are critical for our school district. Over the last year, we have committed to an inclusive Strategic Planning process developing strong, transparent communication supports with our parents, guardians and communities in order to build a strong plan moving forward. We need an educational leader to be in and out of our classrooms, focusing their efforts on the day-to-day academic, behavioral and social skill development of our students and staff as well as helping to implement a K-12 educational plan moving forward.

Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for teaching and principal certification in Maine. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in team and consensus building.
Salary range: 80s negotiable, depending on experience and education, with a competitive benefits package, 210-day contract and 2 to 3 yr. contract.
